Tumblr of the Week: Holy Soul
Holy Soul is for soul and R&B lovers.
Lost classics, mainstream hits, rare TV slots and colourful, pulsating artwork. That’s what this Tumblr is all about.
I consider myself to be ‘moderately’ knowledgeable when it comes to soul, and I found some stompingly brilliant tunes that I’d never heard within a minute of visiting this blog. Tunes by Roy Ayers, The Commodores, Ike & Tina Turner and some very early James Brown.
And it’s always the right time to listen to Stevie Wonder.

Tumblr of the Week: The Daily Bungalow
The Daily Bungalow is a visual snapshot of the way people lived, the designs we coveted and the buildings we lived in, from 1900 - 1960.
Gems include blueprints for 1950s style suburban houses, retro illustrations and adverts, and even a magazine cover of the chef Alton Brown with a whipped cream moustache.
Enjoy.

Non-Profit of the Week: The Adventure Project
The Adventure Project aims to increase investment in social enterprises whilst leveraging the power of Tumblr to communicate messages and news.

Highlighting four principal causes - environment, water, hunger and health - the Adventure Project shifts focus each quarter, ensuring that one cause receives maximum attention at any one time.
In their own words:
“We identify lox-cost, high-impact solutions to the world’s greatest challenges. Each quarter, we highlight a different humanitarian issue deserving attention.”
The Adventure Project was founded in 2010 by Becky Straw and Jody Landers, who met whilst travelling through Liberia in West Africa.

Apple and the LHC
If you ever needed a comparison of figures to show how massively successful Apple has become, this is surely it:
-> Apple’s net profit during the last quarter: $11.6 billion
-> The cost of the LHC at Cern, searching for the Higgs Boson, or ‘God’ particle: $10 billion
Apple could build four LHCs per year, without touching any of their retained earnings or stored cash from previous financial years.
Their financial performance and rise to market domination is simply astonishing. There is no other word for it. It’s been said countless times, but they really know how to create the next ‘must haves’ before people are even aware that they must have them.
Mind you, I’m completely at a loss to understand anything to do with the LHC. I just like watching Brian Cox wander around Chile.
A perfect example of a company that knows their audience…
